Campground Recap

Terms of Use

Account rules and how you may use Campground Recap

This is a product draft for campers and families. It is not legal advice and has not been reviewed by counsel.

1. What Recap is

Recap is a family camp log. You can record visits and recaps, keep journal photos, browse campground and campsite information, leave park feedback, and use related features such as Camper Chat when available. Recap is not a campsite reservation or booking service. Links to official parks, maps, or other sites are for convenience only; those sites have their own terms.

2. Eligibility and accounts

  • You must be able to form a binding agreement in your place of residence.
  • Accounts are intended for adults. Parents or guardians are responsible for use by family members under a household or team account.
  • You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials confidential and for activity under your account.
  • Provide accurate account information and keep it reasonably up to date.
  • We may refuse, suspend, or close accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for the service or other users.

3. Your content

“Your content” means visits, recaps, notes, journal photos and media, park feedback, chat messages, comments or suggestions you send us, and other material you submit.

  • You retain ownership of your content.
  • You grant us a limited license to host, store, display, and process your content as needed to operate Recap (including showing journal content to you and teammates you invite, and showing park feedback you choose to publish to other signed-in campers).
  • You represent that you have the rights to submit your content and that it does not violate law or others’ rights.
  • You can edit or delete much of your content in the product; some operational copies may remain for a limited time in backups or logs.

4. Park feedback and public-facing content

Park Feedback on a park page can be seen by other signed-in campers. You choose whether to show your display name or appear as Anonymous. Do not post feedback that is unlawful, harassing, defamatory, or that discloses someone else’s private information. We may remove feedback that violates these Terms.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Break the law or infringe others’ rights
  • Attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorized to use
  • Probe, scrape, or overload the service in a way that harms availability
  • Upload malware or abuse uploads / storage
  • Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
  • Use Recap to spam, harass, or exploit minors
  • Reverse engineer the service except where law allows
  • Resell or misuse catalog data scraped from Recap as a competing dataset

6. Campground catalog data

Park and campsite details (amenities, maps, facility photos from official or enrichment sources, and similar catalog content) are provided “as is” to help you plan and remember stays. Information can be incomplete or out of date. Always confirm important details with the park or booking provider before you travel.

7. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information. Using Recap also means you understand that policy. The Privacy page is linked from the site footer.

8. Service changes and availability

We may add, change, or remove features. We aim for reliable uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Staging and preview environments may differ from production and can change without notice.

9. Disclaimers

Recap is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that catalog data, maps, or user content are accurate or complete.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, M5 Enterprises and the people who operate Recap are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Recap. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amounts you paid us for Recap in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) fifty U.S. dollars (US $50), if you have not paid us. Some places do not allow certain limits; in those places our liability is limited to the maximum permitted by law.

11. Indemnity

You agree to defend and hold harmless M5 Enterprises and Recap operators from claims arising out of your content or your misuse of the service, to the extent allowed by law.

12. Termination

You may stop using Recap at any time and may ask us to close your account. We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms or if we shut down or restructure the service. Sections that by nature should survive (including ownership of your content subject to the license above, disclaimers, limits of liability, and governing law) continue after termination.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will change the effective date on this page when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using Recap and ask us to close your account.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your home jurisdiction apply. Courts in Ohio have venue for disputes that must be resolved in court, subject to those mandatory protections.
